Hello, CFD! I just returned from a vacation out west to Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon — this trip was the perfect reminder of why we do what we do inside the walls of CFD! It was filled with hiking in difficult situations (heat, elevation, rivers, rocks), biking through two national parks, watching a sunset inside the Grand Canyon with my daughter, paddle boarding, swimming in lakes — it was moving nonstop for a week doing active, physical things. (Kids don't quit lol.) Do I think I could have done all the things alongside my kids if I

How did everyone do on the re-tests of our 3-reps and one-mile run?? I thought it was a fun + challenging week. The only way I'm able to hold myself to consistent improvement is by comparing my personal scores week to week, month to month, year to year. It's important to track your efforts. :) Not every day will show improvement, but improvement over longer periods of time is always encouraging to see. We're at the beginning of August which means, school will start back up again before we know it! I've had some conversations lately about flexible summer schedules

Who's ready for another great week of programming?? We're building to a couple 3-rep maxes this week and re-testing our 1-mile run. If you haven't yet done your safety tour to gain 24/7 access, please reach out to Chris or Kelly! It takes 10 minutes; we know summer can be super busy — 24/7 access allows for flexibility in your workouts and routine. Take advantage of this incredible CFD member benefit! I know I've been altering the times I work out the past couple of months, simply because I have more flexibility during the summer. It's been feeling really good

I hope you all have been feeling ok this week with the lingering wildfire smoke in the air! We've been trying to work around it at CFD by keeping the doors closed and doing most of our cardio inside. It will be nice once the smoke clears and we can all breathe a bit easier again! Please continue to be understanding to those around you — we're all different, and everyone's bodies have varied reactions to stressors. What might not bother you in the least may be a huge hurdle for the person working out next to you. We're all

I wanted to share pieces of an article I recently read from one of my favorite CrossFit content writers, Stephane Rochet. This one was called, "CrossFit Means Failure." "No matter how hard you work, CrossFit will humble you. Forever. Regardless of your ability.  Newcomers to CrossFit often ask breathlessly after their initial exposure to intensity (and a good dose of mechanics and consistency FIRST), “When does this get easier?”  The short answer: “Never.”  Sure, your technique will improve, you’ll get stronger and fitter, and your scores will improve. But that just means you’re building an organism that can handle more work and greater

Thank you to those who joined us Friday morning for our Fourth of July holiday workout! It's workouts like those where the community gets us through. It was a long, tough, challenging grind. I saw a post on social media this past week that I loved. It was called, "The Cheat Code of Accountability." I'm going to share it below ... "When you walk into a CrossFit class the decision is already made. The coach is there. The athletes are there. The workout is on the board. You do not have to negotiate with yourself about whether to do the

Summer is in full swing — I hope you're all taking some time to enjoy this weather! We saw some pretty tough workouts this past week; I was definitely feeling a bit of soreness when Friday rolled around. It can be hard to shift into a new routine as the days get longer, the kids are home, parents turn into full-time Ubers, and the sunshine is calling our names. Don't be afraid to try a different class time if it works better for your schedule on that particular day! Or, take advantage of our 24/7 access — come in on
