Meet Katie!
In August of 2018, my good friend Lisa and I joined CrossFit Develop. It was just time. It was time to start taking care of myself a bit more. I wasn’t totally unhealthy but I didn’t feel positive about myself, much less confident or strong. I had three beautiful kids in two years and then I had a couple major surgeries. My nutrition gradually went down the drain. Bites of leftover chicken nuggets, Halloween candy and a couple spoonfuls of Paw Patrol mac and cheese – that’s where I was at. As parents, we ALL get it. Kids are stressful, work is stressful, life is stressful and we tend to put ourselves last. But at the end of the day, putting yourself last benefits no one.One thing has been crystal clear to me since I’ve joined CFD and that is this: Chris, Kelly and all the coaches at CFD are here to help YOU. They are selfless with their time and passionate about their mission. The workouts are hard but being unhealthy or unhappy is harder. Chris + Kelly educate on nutrition too, which is half the battle. I’m now eating healthful foods I love, I don’t diet, and I do extremely effective, guided workouts with amazing, fun, like-minded, positive people. Every workout can be modified to your ability and there are absolutely no judgments once you walk through those doors. I’ve lost 17 pounds since I started at this gym one year ago, but most importantly, it feels good to feel good. I’m stronger in the every day. I’m a better example of health and fitness for my children. I’m feeling great day-to-day, but I’m also hiking mountains, water skiing and running races – these are things I hadn’t done in years. Truly, CFD has changed my life for the better.
Surround yourself with a community of positive people and great things will happen. Come check out this gym – I promise you won’t regret it. I’d love to see you transform alongside us!
Does this sound familiar? Are you ready to see what CFD can do for you?

Meet Jaymee!
After years of knowing people that did CrossFit, including my own family, and seemingly failing at different gyms across the country, I walked in CrossFit Develop. I was intimidated, nervous and feeling totally insecure. I was sure I wasn’t fit enough to even walk through the doors, I thought I would die in a work out and look absolutely ridiculous to everyone in the room. Some of these fears have proven to be true- but they ultimately have been proven wrong by the community at CrossFit Develop.
I had been an athlete for 15 years of my life, and when team membership ended in college, I struggled through working out on my own, trying every gym to find a community and even trying to force my husband into being my personal trainer. It wasn’t working, I was not achieving the results I wanted or needed. For as long as I can remember I have struggled with back pain, hip pain and knee pain. The first time I ever dislocated a rib, I was 9. I was 11 when I was diagnosed with extreme curves in my spine, kyphosis and lordosis. These curves placed undue tension on my knees, hips and cause constant pain and allowed me to dislocate my ribs and scapula on the regular. Going in and out of physical therapy trying to develop muscles and mobility broke me financially and mentally over 17 years. I was strapped into back brace after back brace, rubbing my ribs and shoulders raw and limiting what I felt comfortable wearing.
The fear
of looking stupid and not being able to keep up was real. I had been an athlete, but I no longer was one. My body moves differently and injuries occur more frequently because of my genetics and it only increased the anxiety of walking into a gym that the international
brand carries “The Fittest in the World.” I wasn’t cut out for for CrossFit, but I also couldn’t keep working out and hurting myself alone. I looked ridiculous in workouts, but so did everyone else. I wasn’t fit enough, but some of my teammates weren’t either.
We wanted to die, but we didn’t. Each day proved that I didn’t need all the baggage I brought with me, all I needed to do was show up.
The first
day was one of the hardest workouts of my life, I am fairly certain that I blacked out and I have no idea how I finished it. It was gruelling, exhausting, horrible and no good- I couldn’t wait to come back. Develop had me hook, line and sinker and I have never
looked back. In one year, I have more than doubled my ability to lift weights- doubling my back squat, deadlift and benchpress. Never in my life had I done a handstand or tried to hit anything resembling toes to bar. In the first 3 months I was out of wearing
a back brace everyday. After 8 months I stopped dislocating ribs, in 10 months I was running the fastest mile I had ever run.
The Develop
community has rounded out my life in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Athletes jumped at the chance to support a family my non-profits works with at Christmas. They raised money for Big Brothers Big Sisters by participating in Lift the Weight Off Kids. Everyone
in those 4 walls cares about each other. CrossFit Develop is building more than just muscle- it is building a team full of heart and positive energy.
It was blowing my mind that I could do more than I had ever done before. I could walk through the world without a back brace to avoid pain. I had found my team, my community, and the key to unlocking my own potential. The people I was surrounded with cheered when I failed- when does that ever happen in real life? CrossFit Develop has changed the way I move through the world, my teammates are the best part of my days. I haven’t died in a workout- though there are some I thought I might, the fittest in the world are in those walls, but they are fit of heart and body.

Meet Rob!
Here is what Rob an experienced CrossFit Athlete has to say about CrossFit Develop and his time with us.
CFD: What brought you to CrossFit Develop in the first place?
Rob: I came to CFD having done CrossFit for about a year. I was looking for more intense and challenging programming. I found that with CFD.
CFD: What was your first impression? How has that changed?
Rob: When I found out CFD was opening, I was rehabbing an issue with my shoulder. When rehab was done, and I started at CFD, I was welcomed in like I had been a member for years. That continues today, nearly a year later. Everyone is there to help you, encourage you, and make you better.
CFD: What was your first “major accomplishment”?
Rob: My first major accomplishment has to be rope climbs. After months of scaling rope climbs, I finally figured out how to lock the rope in with my feet, so I didn’t have to pull so much with my arms. Only took me almost 30 years to get it!
CFD: What are you working on now?
Rob: Right now, I’m trying to get my shoulders strong enough to accomplish pull ups. I’m also working on perfecting my form for cleans and snatches.
CFD: What is your favorite memory from CrossFit Develop?
Rob: CFD is simply a great experience! Coaches do an awesome job of encouraging, teaching, and pushing you to accomplish your goals. Everyone is great and push you to improve your fitness.

Meet Lisa!
My body has been through a lot in 39 years. Three pregnancies, two knee surgeries, one shoulder surgery, one wrist surgery, not to mention the daily stress from caring for not only my own kids but many (many) others. Most recently my doctor told me that I have the knee of an overweight, elderly woman and basically no cartilage left at all ?. I was told not to run. I was told not to lift heavy things. And I was told that a knee replacement is in my future ?. So naturally when my good friend, Katie, asked me to join CrossFit I said “YES!” Honestly, I knew very little about CrossFit when I joined. I had heard the term “CrossFit” but really only knew that it was some sort of workout. I’ve been active my whole life. I grew up playing sports and continued playing in college (recreationally) and after college as well. I’ve done yoga for about 15 years and I’ve belonged to gyms along the way too. But if I’m being honest, I never really challenged myself. Most of what I did came fairly easy to me. Not that I didn’t work hard at it, but it felt natural. Now I can tell you that when I walked into CrossFit Develop for the first time, it was a very different feeling. I knew immediately that I would be challenged and yes it scared me but it also excited me! I was, of course, intimidated by the fact that I had never even attempted most of the movements Chris was teaching me and that I honestly didn’t know what my almost 40-year-old scarred body could do, but when he brought out the ropes for the first time and I found out I could actually climb it, I realized there was hope for me at CrossFit after all ?! Since those first days of On-Ramp, I’ve reached several of my goals including strict pull-ups and toes-to-bar which, in those first few days seemed impossible. I’ve learned a ton about nutrition and proper functional form. But what I’ve loved most about being a part of the CrossFit family is that, although, it’s sort of an individual “sport,” everyone celebrates as a team when goals are accomplished. To anyone out there contemplating joining CrossFit, know that it won’t be easy. You will be challenged. You will fail sometimes. But you will also find yourself doing things you never thought possible. And you will have a group of amazing people cheering you on along the way. So as I inch closer to my one year anniversary at CrossFit Develop, I just want to thank my friend, Katie, for bringing me along on this amazing ride and Chris and Kelly for creating an absolutely amazing facility where people of all different backgrounds and abilities can come together and empower each other to be better, stronger humans.
What are your goals? Are you ready to see how CFD can help you reach them?

Meet Jeremy!
Here is another story from our member Jeremy. He was new to CrossFit before joining CFD. You can see through his story how he has grow on so many levels and continuing to get better all the time. We can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next!
CFD: What brought you to CrossFit Develop in the first place?
Jeremy: I got a random message from one of the coaches inviting me to check it out. My wife thought I might enjoy it, so I went to check it out.
CFD: What was your first impression? How has that changed?
Jeremy: Everyone was really friendly, but I was really intimidated by the intensity of the workout on the board. Not much has changed in that regard except that I know I’m capable of handling it!
CFD: What was your first “major accomplishment”?
Jeremy: The first major accomplishment was running a mile. We ran it about a week after I joined, and I had to walk a lot of it. We did it again a couple of months later and I ran the whole thing, finishing in 8:42!
CFD: What are you working on now?
Jeremy: Lots of stuff. I never thought I’d do a pull-up or climb a rope but now I can do both. I’m working on getting more efficient in my pull-ups, trying to learn how to kip or butterfly. I’m also getting close to a handstand walk. I’m also working on not rolling my eyes at the coaches when I receive instruction!
CFD: What is your favorite memory from CrossFit Develop?
Jeremy: Hard to say; I’ve had nothing but great experiences. Hearing Chris yell “up” or Kelly reminding us to “commit” to lifts are pretty high on the list. Mostly it’s the people. The workouts run together but the coaches and members stand out.
Are you having fun in your current routine? Are you ready to find a gym that is fun?
